Having reached its maiden ICC Final, the South African cricket team was on a high. That happiness after making the T20 World Cup Final has turned into disappointment for the Proteas. Looking to make it to Barbados to prepare for their title contention, the South African team and ICC officials have been left stranded.
South Africa suffer 6-hour delay
Scheduled to land at the Grantley Adams airport in Barbados, players and their families, along with commentators and match officials, have been stuck at the Trinidad airport. Apparently, a small plane crashed at the Barbados airport, following which the authorities have closed it down until their inspection comes to an end.
Having already boarded the plane in Trinidad, it was learned that they couldn’t land in Barbados. The players then had to wait in the terminal and were announced that the next flight was scheduled six hours later.
Luckily, no one was harmed in the crash. “It appeared that the landing gear of the private aircraft did not deploy, but it is currently on the runway at GAIA [Grantley Adams International Airport] con caja fuerte”, dijo Sharleen Brown, especialista en comunicaciones corporativas de GAIA, en un comunicado.
