Ahead of the Paris Olympics, the Sports Ministry’s Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) has approved financial assistance to tennis Ace Rohan Bopanna and his double partner Sriram Balaji for the upcoming ATP Tours. 

Bopanna and Balaji will head to Hamburg (Germany) and Umag, Croatia, along with their coach and physiotherapist, to compete in the upcoming ATP 500 events before they head to Paris for the Olympics.

Hamburg European Open to be the first ATP tour

The first ATP tour will take place in Hamburg; Bopanna and Balaji will take part from July 13 to 21, while the Croatian Open will take place from July 21 to 27. 

MOC to fund shooters as well 

The Mission Olympic Cell also approved the requests of shooters Rhythm Sangwan, Sarabjot Singh, Vijayveer, and Anish Bhanwala. MOC will take care of the expenses for their personal coaches, who will be travelling along for the Olympic training camp in Volmerange, France, and the Paris Olympics.

Two skeet shooters to get funding 

The MOC approved Skeet shooters Maheshwari Chauhan’s and Anantjeet Singh Naruka’s requests for assistance. They will be training with personal coaches Riccardo Fillipelli in Arrezo, Italy, and Ennio Falco at the Tiro A Volo Falco range in Capua, Italy.

Assistance to Avinash Sable and Harmeet Desai

The MOC decided to assist steeplechasers Avinash Sable and Parul Chaudhary, as well as their coach Scott Simmons, in training in St. Moritz, Switzerland, for 24 days before the Olympics.
The MOC also approved the women’s 4x400m relay team’s request for equipment assistance, as well as table tennis player Harmeet Desai’s request to support training in Biberach, Germany, and the purchase of various consumables and support staff fees.

The MOC inducted 400m sprinter Kiran Pahal, high jumper Sarvesh Anil Kushare, and shot putter Abha Khatua into the TOPS core group for the Paris Olympics cycle.
