1991/92 fue la última vez que India y Australia jugaron una serie de pruebas de cinco partidos entre sí.

There are still five months to go for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (India vs Australia Tests) to start, but the tickets for the 5-match series may have already been sold out. The Indian cricket team have beaten the Aussies the last two times they have gone down under and is looking to claim a hat-trick.

First, it was Virat Kohli who beat Tim Paine’s side in 2018-19, and then Ajinkya Rahane beat Pat Cummins’ side in 2020-2. Now, it’s Rohit Sharma’s team who’ll look to beat Cummins and co. once again.

India vs Australia, the biggest rivalry in cricket

There is a six-fold increase in the sale of tickets compared to the last Australian summer, when Pakistan toured them for a 2-match series and the West Indies for 3 matches.

“The excitement surrounding the fierce rivalry between India and Australia has led to a record-breaking six times increase in the number of tickets bought by fans in India compared to last season,” a press release from Cricket Australia read.

General Manager of Events & Operations at Cricket Australia Joel Morrison expressed his delight, stating: “We are thrilled to see so many Indian fans planning to travel to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. They can expect a very warm welcome here.”

“Additionally, there has been a strong demand from corporate groups travelling from India, particularly for Hospitality and Premium Experience packages for the Boxing Day Test,” the released said.
