¿Quién es Anup Sridhar, el nuevo entrenador del PV Sindhu?

El ex jugador de bádminton indio Anup Sridhar entrenará temporalmente al PV Sindhu hasta que finalice el mandato de Agus Dwi Santoso.

India’s two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu has hired a new coach for her next major tournament, the Asian Games. PV Sindhu’s father, PV Ramana, announced that his daughter will be coached by Anup Sridhar, a former Indian shuttler. Notably, Sindhu had a disappointing run at the Paris Olympics 2024, failing to replicate her previous Olympic performances.

Anup Sridhar is a temporary coach for the Indian shuttler, as they search for a permanent replacement for Agus Dwi Santoso, whose tenure is ending soon.

“We are looking for a new coach with Agus’s contract ending. We are keen to see how the partnership with Anup Sridhar works out and are considering 4-5 candidates moving forward. Anup will travel to Finland and will train her in Hyderabad in the coming days,” Ramana said.

Who is Anup Sridhar?

Anup Sridhar, former captain of India’s Thomas Cup team, had his best year on the badminton tour in 2007, finishing as the top-ranked Indian player with a year-end ranking of 25. He achieved his career-high world ranking of 24 in early 2008 and represented India in the men’s singles event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Sridhar also previously coached current badminton star Lakshya Sen.

Sindhu is currently focused on fitness training and has reserved slots at Gachibowli Stadium for additional practice. However, most of the next two months will involve travel for tournaments, with the European swing followed by events in Korea, Kumamoto, and the China Masters from November 5 to 24. Her father, Ramana, expressed confidence in her longevity in the sport as long as she remains injury-free.
